Anushka's first time as a fashion model came in 2017 after she modelled for Wendell Rodricks at Lakme Fashion Week, and then was chosen by Rodricks to be a model in his Spring Summer 2007 collection. Anushka is now, following her Lakme Fashion Week modelling debut has appeared in campaigns by brands such as Fiat Palio Fiat Whisper Nathella Jewelry Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry. Anushka Sharma, along with her modeling career joined an acting school and started giving auditions for films. Anushka was first seen in an acting role with Shah Rukh Khan opposite Anushka. For her screen test, she refused to perform an unplanned test and instead took the day off to practice. Later on she was a part of three films for Yash Raj Films. The role she played was that of the bride, who was young and was married to a man in middle in age (the persona Shah Rukh Khan was portraying). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. The year 2010 was the year that Anushka Sharma appeared in the movie 'Badmash Company together with Shahid Kapoor Vir Das as well as Meiyang Chang. The movie got mixed reviews. Anushka played the role of a Punjabi girl of middle class in a film called 'Band Baaja Baaraat.' She starred alongside Ranveer. The film was well-received and became a sleeper. Anushka had signed the three film contract in partnership with Yash Raj Films.
